Baxter's Nerve Entrapment Caused by a Lipoma with Abductor Digiti Minimi Atrophy: A Case Report

Baxter's nerve entrapment, also known as Baxter neuropathy, has various causes such as a calcaneal spur or plantar fasciitis. However, no cases of lipoma compression have been reported. We report the case of a 62-year-old woman who presented with a palpable mass on the medial aspect of the plantar surface of left foot. MRI showed a lobulated mass in the medial foot extending into the central plantar space, showing fat signals in all sequences. Additionally, atrophy with fatty change of the abductor digiti minimi muscle was noted. The patient underwent surgical excision, and pathological examination confirmed a lipoma. Herein, we report a rare case of Baxter's nerve entrapment with atrophy of the abductor digiti minimi muscle caused by a lipoma.
