Abstract:
Chiropractic medicine, recognized in Switzerland as a medical profession and covered by basic health insurance, is a comprehensive approach to musculoskeletal pain. The training includes a bachelor's degree in human medicine, a master's degree in chiropractic medicine, and postgraduate studies. Chiropractors perform a full medical diagnosis and offer integrative care. The approach is person-centered, incorporating biomechanical, neurophysiological, and psychosocial aspects. Recommended by scientific guidelines, spinal manipulation has an effect on mobility, antinociceptive mechanisms, and inflammation. Chiropractic medicine promotes patient autonomy, reduces the risk of therapeutic escalation, lowers costs and fragmentation of care, and relieves the burden on general practitioners.
