Abstract:
Brassica oleracea var. capitata L., a globally significant vegetable of Brassicaceae, is cultivated most extensively in China. The expanding cultivation area and increasing cropping intensity of this vegetable have exacerbated the severity of fungal, bacterial, and oomycete diseases, necessitating the breeding of disease-resistant varieties. China has bred a range of disease-resistant varieties of this vegetable. This review summarizes recent advances in understanding the pathogens, control strategies, and disease-resistant variety breeding methodologies for the four most common diseases: clubroot, Fusarium wilt, downy mildew, and black rot. The review aims to provide a scientific foundation for breeding disease-resistant varieties of B. oleracea var. capitata.

Transgenic Plants
The first-ever transgenic plant was a tobacco plant developed in 1983 that showed resistance against the tobacco mosaic virus. Since then, many transgenic plants have been developed and commercialized for improving the agricultural, ornamental, and horticultural value of a crop plant. Transgenic...
