  • For ICNs, specialist certification, training, and knowledge were linked to higher competency.

  • IC knowledge, core competency, and organizational support for patient safety are insufficient in Korean LTCHs.
  • IC knowledge demonstrated the strongest association with IC core competency.
  • Organizational support for patient safety is a key factor influencing infection control practices.
