Endoscopy requires technical precision, sound judgment, and nontechnical skills, but trainees often feel overwhelmed, and trainers may lack structured feedback tools. Deconstruction addresses this by breaking procedures into sequential, teachable steps that are observable, measurable, and defined by expert consensus. In esophagogastroduodenoscopy; for example, this includes scope neutrality, systematic navigation, and complete wall examination. Embedding deconstruction into SBML standardizes learning, enhances patient safety, and ensures all learners achieve competency before performing independently.
