Mental models and conceptual complexity in medicine

Abstract:
This editorial examines how mental models are constructed, organised and transformed throughout the medical training process, with a particular focus on cardiovascular physiology. The findings presented here are of direct relevance to final-year medical students and newly qualified doctors, who are at a critical stage in the consolidation and reconfiguration of their knowledge.
