    Area of Science:

    • Gynecologic Oncology
    • Endocrinology
    • Pathology

    Background:

    • Ovarian carcinoids are rare neuroendocrine tumors.
    • Typically associated with teratomas, pure forms are exceptionally uncommon.
    • Understanding their distinct characteristics is crucial for diagnosis and management.

    Observation:

    • Presents the 23rd and 24th reported cases of primary pure insular ovarian carcinoids.
    • Details the clinical presentation and pathological findings of these rare tumors.
    • Highlights the co-occurrence of carcinoid heart disease in one case.

    Findings:

    • Confirms the existence of primary pure insular ovarian carcinoids.
    • Demonstrates the potential for carcinoid heart disease in ovarian carcinoid patients.
    • Adds to the limited literature on pure ovarian carcinoid tumors.

    Implications:

    • Enhances understanding of rare ovarian neoplasms.
    • Suggests vigilance for carcinoid heart disease in patients with ovarian carcinoids.
    • Informs diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for these uncommon tumors.
