Abstract:
Herein, we report a metal-free electrochemical protocol for the direct thiolation of alkyl alcohols with odorless disulfides under mild conditions. This strategy features a broad substrate scope, excellent functional-group tolerance, and applicability to the late-stage functionalization of complex bioactive molecules, providing an efficient and sustainable platform for C-S bond formation. Furthermore, a series of control experiments highly suggest a plausible iodide/phosphine-mediated radical pathway for this transformation.
