Purpose of the Study:

  • To identify and describe imported skin diseases within the +Redivi network.
  • To analyze the distribution and characteristics of these diseases based on traveler type.

  • Retrospective analysis of data from the +Redivi Spanish national network (October 2009 - December 2024).
  • Inclusion of patients presenting with a cutaneous syndrome as the primary or secondary reason for consultation.

  • 3,437 patients consulted for cutaneous syndromes (9.5% of total).
  • Travelers (62.4%), migrants (22.4%), and visitors from friends/relatives (VFRs) (15.2%) were the main groups.
  • Leading conditions included arthropod bites (14.3%), skin infections (11.2%), cutaneous larva migrans (9.4%), arboviral infections (6.8%), and animal bites (8.2%).
  • Arthropod bites, animal bites, cutaneous larva migrans, and tungiasis were more frequent in travelers.
  • Arboviral infections were more common in VFRs.
  • Scabies, fungal infections, and skin/soft tissue infections were more common in migrants.

Conclusions:

  • Significant differences in imported skin conditions exist among traveler types, influenced by cultural, epidemiological, and social factors.
  • Findings can inform pre-travel prevention strategies.
  • Data can enhance diagnostic guidelines for travel-related skin diseases.
