Extended reality (XR) tools have been embellishing our real-life experiences increasingly since the late twentieth century. With augmented reality applications being suitable for common smart devices and with technological advances becoming more and more commercially viable at a faster pace, XR is continuously growing in visibility and its applications. One of its potentials lies in the context of teaching, in particular in relation to concepts that require high spatial awareness-such as structural biology and chemistry. We hereby present examples and guides to generating and exploring 3D models via augmented reality and mixed reality using common smart devices. In addition, we present our fully immersive and interactive virtual science education platform VeRidium.
