Visualization analysis of research progress in precision oncology nursing based on CiteSpace

To map the knowledge structure, patterns of research attention, and temporal trends of precision oncology nursing in Chinese- and English-language literature.

Publications related to precision oncology nursing were retrieved from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data, VIP Database for Chinese Technical Periodicals (VIP), Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), and Web of Science (WOS) from database inception to July 7, 2025. After literature screening, bibliometric analysis and knowledge mapping were performed using CiteSpace 6.4.R1.

A total of 613 publications were included, comprising 292 Chinese-language and 321 English-language records. Publication output increased in both datasets, although the English-language literature emerged earlier. Common themes across the two datasets included quality of life, breast cancer, and symptom-related care. Compared with the English-language literature, the Chinese-language literature placed greater emphasis on perioperative management and application-oriented nursing practice, whereas the English-language literature showed relatively greater attention to survivorship, patient education, palliative care, and evidence-informed care.

Research on precision oncology nursing has expanded over time and shows increasing thematic diversity. However, collaboration networks remain relatively fragmented, particularly in the Chinese-language literature. Further efforts in interdisciplinary integration, methodological standardization, and international collaboration may support the future development of precision oncology nursing across the cancer care continuum.
