pH ratiometry is a confocal-microscopy-based method for measurements of extracellular pH in dental biofilms. Here, a simplified version of the method was developed using an epifluorescence microscope. It allows for rapid monitoring of the pH response of clinical biofilm samples to sucrose and extends the application spectrum of pH ratiometry.
