Abstract:
Hallux rigidus is one of the most common pathologies in foot and ankle surgery. Surgical treatment options can be divided into joint-preserving and non-joint-preserving techniques. Open procedures for both forms have been well established and successfully performed for decades. In recent years, minimally invasive surgical techniques have become increasingly widespread, particularly in forefoot surgery. Cheilectomy, osteotomies of the metatarsal and proximal phalanx, as well as first metatarsophalangeal joint arthrodesis, can all be performed effectively using minimally invasive approaches. Recent studies have further substantiated the role of minimally invasive techniques in the surgical treatment of hallux rigidus.
