Abstract:
To achieve rapid and visual discrimination of structurally similar fluoroquinolone antibiotics ciprofloxacin (CIP) and fleroxacin (FLE) in water, a dual-emission Tb3+/Eu3+-based MOF (Ln-MOF(N/OH-Porous)) was designed using asymmetric DPA and hydroxyl-rich DHTA ligands. The material provides abundant hydrogen-bonding sites, and the subtle substituent differences between the two targets lead to distinct hydrogen-bonding strengths. It amplified into differentiable fluorescence responses, enabling their simultaneous visual detection. The sensor exhibits high sensitivity with detection limits as low as 60.82 nM for CIP and 31.39 nM for FLE. Based on the dual-channel distinguishable color changes (CIP: yellow→green; FLE: yellow→blue), an RGB-based computational model combined with radial basis function interpolation was developed to directly output both concentrations from a single test image in their coexistence system. Furthermore, a portable detection gel was fabricated for on-site screening, showing good recoveries (92.02-113.16%) in real water samples. This work provides a rapid, visual, and intelligent strategy for simultaneous detection of highly similar targets, advancing portable environmental monitoring.
