Abstract:
Nanocatalysts have become popular due to their efficient catalytic properties and eco-friendly synthesis processes compared with traditional catalysts. The use of catalysts in the nano-sized form is an alternative methodology for combining the advantages of heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis. Various transition metals are used as nanocatalysts, among which the catalytic efficiency of silver-based nanocatalysts has been widely investigated for various organic transformations and the synthesis of fine chemicals and intermediates. This review comprehensively emphasizes the catalytic efficiency and mechanistic aspects of silver-based nanocatalysts in the diverse C-N bond-forming transformations for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds, with particular focus on N-H/C-X cross-coupling reactions. Moreover, we highlight the role of silver nanocatalysts in enhancing the reaction selectivity, catalytic activity, and sustainability in heterocyclic synthesis. This review provides an insightful strategy for the design of next-generation AgNPs with enhanced catalytic properties.

Preparation of Alkynes: Alkylation Reaction
Alkylation of terminal alkynes with primary alkyl halides in the presence of a strong base like sodium amide is one of the common methods for the synthesis of longer carbon-chain alkynes. For example, treatment of 1-propyne with sodium amide followed by reaction with ethyl bromide yields 2-pentyne.

Reduction of Alkenes: Asymmetric Catalytic Hydrogenation
The metal catalyst used can be either heterogeneous or homogeneous. When hydrogenation of an alkene generates a chiral center, a pair of enantiomeric products is expected to form. However, an enantiomeric excess of one of the products can be facilitated using an enantioselective reaction or an...
