Objective:
To explore the accessibility and cultural appropriateness of an online nutrition education tool (ONE) from the perspectives of Hispanic or Latina participants in the Special Supplemental Program for Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC).
Methods:
Phone interviews were conducted with WIC participants who self-identified as Hispanic or Latina and interacted with ONE during their WIC experience. Qualitative interview responses were coded by researchers, discrepancies were reconciled, and themes emerged from the data until saturation was reached.
Results:
Participants (n = 12) reported ONE was an accessible nutrition education method, and WIC staff were integral to promote use of the platform. Sociocultural values aligned with the information on ONE.
Conclusions And Implications:
Including more child-friendly recipes that represent the cultural diversity of dietary practices is recommended. Future research could explore WIC staff's acceptance and promotion of ONE. Research to increase participant engagement with online education tools through a cultural lens is recommended.
