Sleep is essential for healthy growth and neurocognitive development in children, however, sleep disturbances in the pediatric population are still largely undiagnosed. Children with craniofacial abnormalities are at particular risk for developing sleep disturbances, which can have long-lasting neurodevelopmental, cardiovascular, and respiratory consequences. This article seeks to fill knowledge gaps in screening, evaluation, and management of common sleep disorders in children with craniofacial abnormalities. With early identification and treatment, clinicians can significantly improve the overall health, developmental outcomes, and quality of life in children with craniofacial syndromes.
