Pericardial effusions and cardiac tamponade are common complications occurring during transcatheter aortic valve replacement and could be life-threatening. Management of tamponade involves emergent pericardiocentesis and addressing the underlying cause. We present a case of refractory cardiac tamponade with continuous hemorrhagic extravasation into the pericardial space in a nonoperative patient, which was managed by injecting Surgicel hemostatic agent into the pericardial space leading to hemostasis and patient stabilization.
