Abstract:
The resurgence of progressive forces in Brazil has created a context conducive to strengthening interprofessionality and building healthcare centred on community, cooperation and dialogue, overcoming fragmentation and competition. This text revisits and updates the theoretical-conceptual and methodological foundations of interprofessional work and education, analysing its trajectory in Brazil and internationally, with the aim of supporting public policies, strategic decisions in the management of work and health education, and the production of knowledge in the area. Based on relevant historical milestones, aligned with the transformation of care and training models, the challenges and facilitators of interprofessionality are discussed. It is concluded that its valorisation must be linked to the historical struggles and achievements for the consolidation of the SUS, the strengthening of democracy and health as a right of the Brazilian people.
