Abstract:
The reported case surrounds a previously healthy 30-year-old male who initially presented to primary care with acute vision changes. Further workup and imaging revealed an occipital mass lesion which appeared to enlarge after initiation of steroids. Debridement and specimen collection for culturing revealed an abscess growing Streptococcus intermedius. The consideration of a broad differential diagnosis for both neoplastic and non-neoplastic causes of tumor-like brain lesions is a critical component in accurate diagnosis and management in these rare cases.
