Abstract:
Life, occupational, and work-life balance are essential factors influencing health, well-being, and quality of life. Although these concepts are frequently discussed, their definitions remain inconsistent, and research based on interventions is limited. This study aims to identify interventions that promote life, occupational, or work-life balance and to explore how these concepts are understood within intervention studies. A scoping review was conducted using the Joanna Briggs Institute framework and PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Eighteen studies met the inclusion criteria. Participants in the included studies were adults, health care workers, individuals with mental health conditions, and students. Interventions focused on time use, mindfulness, gratitude/happiness training, behavior change, and storytelling. Findings indicate diverse intervention approaches are used to promote balance and well-being. However, variability in how life, occupational, and work-life balance are described and measured highlights the need for greater conceptual clarity.
