On-chip leaky-wave metasurface-integrated guided-mode laser
None:
We propose and demonstrate an on-chip laser that integrates a leaky-wave metasurface (LWM) into a high-Q (Q > 20,000) planar waveguide Fabry-Pérot (FP) resonator to achieve efficient free-space emission and versatile beam control. The LWM, based on a quasi-bound state in the continuum (quasi-BIC), acts as a programmable output coupler whose structural perturbation governs vertical radiation efficiency. Full-wave simulations validate stable lasing operation and functionalities of beam splitting and focusing by spatially engineering the metasurface. This architecture merges high-Q spectral performance with versatile beam shaping, establishing a compact platform for intelligent light sources.
