Cyanido-bridged mixed-valence compounds represent a distinctive and significant mixed-valence system. Exploring this system provides valuable insights into comprehending the intricacies of electron transfer processes in nature, thereby contributing to the development of applications. In this review, we delineate four key factors that influence the electron transfer dynamics within cyanido-bridged mixed-valence systems. Additionally, we offer a perspective on modulating the electron transfer process, accompanied by an exploration of applications in molecular wires and quantum dot cellular automata. We hope this review will serve as a valuable resource for guiding the design and synthesis of functional cyanido-bridged compounds.
