[A case of cataracts with true lens capsule exfoliation]

A 79-year-old female patient was admitted to the hospital due to bilateral progressive visual acuity loss for more than 1 year. She had a history of hypertension, facial paralysis and ocular surgery. Through ophthalmic examination, ultrasound biomicroscopy and anterior segment optical coherence tomography, she was diagnosed with bilateral senile nuclear cataract and bilateral true lens capsule exfoliation. Subsequently, she underwent bilateral phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation. Pathological examination of the anterior lens capsule peeled off during surgery confirmed the presence of epithelial cell loss and defect, double-layer separation, pigment deposition and other changes.
