Summary:
The authors explore the pathophysiology of sedation-related complications including delirium, ventilator-induced diaphragmatic dysfunction, and ICU-acquired weakness. They analyze clinical assessment tools ranging from validated scales to emerging objective monitoring technologies (processed electroencephalography, automated pupillometry).
