Abstract:
Macrophage-conditioned medium models are widely used in obesity research, but correspondence with obese animals has not been examined. We compared the effects of Kaempferia parviflora in this model and KK-Ay diabetic obese model mice. Anti-inflammatory effects and restoration of uncoupling protein-1 (UCP-1) expression were observed in both models, indicating that the macrophage-conditioned medium model recapitulates inflammation-associated suppression of UCP-1 expression.
