Abstract:
Climate change and the socioeconomic models that drive it have growing impacts on mental health. To date, responses have largely focused on adapting to climate-related risks. However, climate action can also generate psychosocial co-benefits. Measures such as reducing air pollution, promoting active mobility, increasing access to nature, encouraging sufficiency, and fostering community engagement can simultaneously mitigate climate change and support mental well-being. Health professionals have a key role to play in integrating these levers into clinical practice, strengthening individual and collective resilience, and contributing to environments that promote both mental health and planetary health.
