Abstract:
This study reports the construction of pyrimidine-based [5,6,5]-fused tricyclic energetic frameworks. Compounds 10-12 exhibit high thermal stability (Td = 312-368 °C), excellent mechanical sensitivity (IS ≥ 30 J; FS > 360 N), and favorable detonation performance (Dv = 8192-8720 m s-1, 25.3-35.8 GPa), outperforming conventional heat-resistant explosive HNS. These results present a robust strategy for developing advanced heat-resistant explosives.

Stability of Substituted Cyclohexanes
The two chair conformations of cyclohexanes undergo rapid interconversion at room temperature. Both forms have identical energies and stabilities, each comprising equal amounts of the equilibrium mixture. Replacing a hydrogen atom with a functional group makes the two conformations energetically non-equivalent.
For example, in...

Conjugated systems containing an even number of π-electron pairs undergo a conrotatory ring closure. For example, thermal electrocyclization of (2E,4E)-2,4-hexadiene, a conjugated diene containing two π-electron pairs, gives trans-3,4-dimethylcyclobutene.
