Abstract:
A tetradentate cationic halogen bonding foldamer is reported, together with a triscationic analogue. The four-fold iodotriazolium-based system has been prepared from a bis(iodoalkyne) with two equivalents of aromatic azides, complementing existing pathways. The anion binding of the halogen bond donors has been evaluated in a halide abstraction benchmark reaction.
