Rehabilitation of Complex Iatrogenic Prosthodontic Failures: A Case Report on Comprehensive Full-Mouth Reconstruction

Abstract:
The management of partial edentulism with severe occlusal disharmony and failed prosthodontic restorations requires careful multidisciplinary treatment. A 48-year-old male presented with defective restorations, marginal discrepancies, excess cement, poor contours, a collapsed occlusal plane, missing teeth, hyper-erupted posterior teeth, occlusal interferences, and localised stage II grade B periodontitis. After written informed consent, the treatment was completed in four phases: non-surgical periodontal therapy, endodontic retreatment with post-core reconstruction, selective extractions, and definitive fixed prosthodontic rehabilitation. A mounted diagnostic wax-up established the restored vertical dimension and group-function occlusal scheme. IPS e.max lithium disilicate crowns were bonded anteriorly, while monolithic zirconia crowns were cemented posteriorly. At the 4-week follow-up, the patient demonstrated complete resolution of periodontal inflammation, elimination of occlusal interferences, stable group function, and high satisfaction with masticatory function and smile aesthetics.
