[Chinese expert consensus on the diagnosis and management of encephalitis-associated cognitive impairment]
Abstract:
Cognitive impairment is a major clinical manifestation of encephalitis and may persist over the long term, markedly compromising quality of life and social functioning. In China, no expert consensus has previously addressed the management of post-encephalitic cognitive dysfunction. To fill this gap, the Neuroinfectious Diseases and Cerebrospinal Fluid Cytology Group, Neurology Branch of Chinese Medical Association and the Neuroinfectious Diseases Group, Neurologist Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association has developed a consensus to standardize clinicians' approaches to screening, assessment, treatment, and prevention, with the goal of improving outcomes for affected patients. The consensus summarizes current concepts, pathogenesis, clinical features, evaluation methods, therapeutic strategies, and preventive measures for encephalitis-related cognitive impairment.
