Abstract:
In this article, we answer questions from doctors and other healthcare providers regarding the evaluation of fitness to drive. We describe who decides on medical fitness to drive and which diseases, medical conditions, and medications may affect fitness to drive. Additionally, we discuss the role of doctors and pharmacists in fitness-to-drive evaluations and how, as a healthcare provider, to deal with clients who continue to drive despite an advice to stop. Whether or not to breach confidentiality is also addressed.
