Abstract:
Elatostema involucratum Franch. & Sav, a perennial herb in the genus Elatostema (family Urticaceae), has significant medicinal value. Here, we report the complete chloroplast genome of E. involucratum for the first time, assembled using high-throughput sequencing. The chloroplast genome is 150,481 bp in length, with an overall GC content of 36.35%, and exhibits the typical quadripartite structure, comprising a large single-copy (LSC) region of 84,035 bp, a small single-copy (SSC) region of 17,084 bp, and a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions of 24,681 bp each. A total of 128 genes were annotated, including 85 protein-coding genes, 35 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes, most of which are associated with photosynthesis and self-replication. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that E. involucratum is most closely related to E. stewardii, followed by E. suzukii. This study enriches the chloroplast genomic resources for the genus Elatostema, and provides a valuable foundation for further research on its genetic evolution and germplasm development.
