Abstract:
The first three chiral calcium thiocyanate hybrids were synthesised using natural amino acids as bridging ligands. The distinct acid-base properties of the amino acids, together with the strong oxophilicity of Ca2+, generate diverse chain and layered architectures that exhibit powder second-harmonic generation intensities of up to 2.4 × KH2PO4.
