Abstract:
The grating orientation discrimination task (GOT) is typically used to assess tactile spatial acuity. However, performance is influenced by stimulus speed, contact force between the stimulator and the skin, and the method of discrimination. This study aimed to explore suitable stimulus conditions for a novel GOT approach and evaluate its feasibility, day-to-day reliability, and psychometric properties for assessing tactile spatial acuity.•Tested different stimulus speeds and contact forces.•Compared a novel three-alternative method with the conventional approach.•Assessed reliability and psychometric properties of GOT measurements.
