Purpose:
This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of standalone bilateral iStent® Inject W implantation in pseudophakic patients with mild to moderate primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) over 18 months.
Design:
Prospective, longitudinal study.
Methods:
Twenty-eight pseudophakic eyes with mild to moderate POAG were implanted with iStent® Inject W. Outcome measures included intraocular pressure (IOP) and change in the number of antiglaucoma medications.
Results:
The mean IOP declined from 21.14 ± 2.18 mmHg preoperatively to 15.14 ± 1.51 mmHg at 18 months postoperatively ( P < 0.0001), while the average number of antiglaucoma medications was reduced from 2.07 ± 0.73 to 1.18 ± 0.83 over the same period ( P < 0.05).
Conclusion:
Standalone iStent® Inject W implantation in pseudophakic patients with mild to moderate POAG results in a sustained reduction in IOP and the number of antiglaucoma medications at 18 months postoperatively.
