Abstract:
Central nervous system cancer, encompassing both primary and metastatic brain and spinal cord lesions, presents unique rehabilitation challenges due to their inherent characteristics, presentation, and cancer treatments. Rehabilitation impairments in this population necessitate an interdisciplinary rehabilitation approach focused on quality of life and functional independence. This article provides an overview of the epidemiology, treatments, and associated sequelae of primary and metastatic brain and spine tumors. Rehabilitation clinicians should be familiar with current treatments, unique challenges, and expectations throughout the rehabilitation continuum.
