Objective:
This scoping review will map and characterize the systemic interventions used in family nursing across different health care settings and family types.
Introduction:
The family is considered a dynamic and complex system, in which changes to a single element influence the whole. Nurses adopt systemic interventions to address families' needs, helping them adapt to the challenges arising from transitions throughout the life cycle, which may lead to improvements in family health and functioning. Despite the growing recognition of systemic interventions in family nursing, the literature remains fragmented and lacks a comprehensive synthesis.
Eligibility Criteria:
This scoping review will consider sources of evidence on family nursing that explore and characterize systemic family interventions used across diverse health care contexts and among different family types.
Methods:
This review will follow the JBI methodology for scoping reviews. The databases to be searched include CINAHL Ultimate (EBSCOhost), the Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection (EBSCOhost), Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection, PubMed, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL). The search for unpublished sources of evidence will include Google Scholar and OpenAlex. Two reviewers will independently screen titles and abstracts and extract data from the included studies using a data extraction tool developed by the reviewers. The results will be summarized and presented in a tabular format, followed by a narrative summary.
