The Clinical Application of Tumor Treating Fields Therapy in Glioblastoma

Medical Objects, Graphic Medicine, and Brian Fies's Mom's Cancer
Abstract:
Medical objects play a crucial role in diagnosis and treatment, yet the ways in which individuals experience them remain underexplored in medical discourse. With its attention to lived experiences, graphic medicine can humanize and complement a more sterile biomedical perspective. This article analyzes the representation of medical objects and the experiential realities they constitute with reference to Brian Fies's Mom's Cancer (2006). The article traces how stakeholders' interactions with these objects reveal affective, social, and cultural resonances beyond the objects' clinical function. Reading medical objects as mediators of anxiety, authority, and care, this study challenges the conventional framing of medical objects as inert instruments and repositions them as active participants in the ecology of health care.

Cancer-Critical Genes II: Tumor Suppressor Genes
When the function of certain critical genes, especially those involved in cell cycle regulation and cell growth signaling cascades, gets disrupted, it upsets the cell cycle progression. Such cells with unchecked cell cycles start proliferating uncontrollably and eventually develop into tumors.

Cancer Therapies
However, cancer treatments can pose several challenges, as therapies used to kill cancer cells are generally also toxic to normal cells. Moreover, cancer cells mutate rapidly and can develop resistance to chemical agents or radiation therapy. Besides, all types of cancer cells may not respond to the same therapy. Some cancer cells respond to one...
