Abstract:
In precision oncology, therapies are tailored to the tumor's individual molecular and immunological characteristics in order to maximize efficacy while minimizing side effects. This approach has recently led to a significant expansion of treatment options, particularly for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Traditionally, this refers to receptor inhibitors-mostly tyrosine kinase inhibitors-that inhibit receptors on the cell surface activated by oncogenic alterations (e.g., mutations, fusions). More recent approaches also include bispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and, in a broader sense, the selection of immunotherapies for specific molecular subgroups. Comprehensive immunohistochemical and molecular diagnostics are therefore crucial for selecting the optimal and personalized treatment strategy-both at initial diagnosis and following disease progression. Furthermore, new prospects are currently emerging in the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) through the development of bispecific T‑cell engagers. This article aims to provide an overview of the latest targeted treatment options for lung cancer, with a particular focus on NSCLC.

Cancer Therapies
However, cancer treatments can pose several challenges, as therapies used to kill cancer cells are generally also toxic to normal cells. Moreover, cancer cells mutate rapidly and can develop resistance to chemical agents or radiation therapy. Besides, all types of cancer cells may not respond to the same therapy. Some cancer cells respond to one...
