Editorial Commentary: The Control Group Conundrum in Patellar Lateralization Imaging Research
1St. Joseph Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington, U.S.A.
Abstract:
Measurements of patellar lateralization are increasingly diverse. Alternatives to the tibial tubercle-groove distance have been developed to better allow the measurement of patellar lateralization in trochlear dysplasia patients. These alternatives include the tibial tubercle-Roman arch and tibial tubercle-midepicondyle distances. Studying the clinical utility of these measures requires a unique, and difficult to achieve, control group.
