Abstract:
A wide field of view X-ray imaging detector with an effective field of view of more than 90 mm has been developed. To enable distortion-free X-ray micro-imaging in the wide field of view observation, a high-definition telecentric lens was employed as visible-light optics after converting the incident X-ray beam into visible light. In the evaluation of the developed detector, it was confirmed that tomographic reconstruction could be performed without any noticeable distortion even at the edge of the reconstructed field of view. The developed wide field of view X-ray imaging detector was applied to X-ray multi-scale micro-tomography to capture the entire structure of relatively large objects such as fossils. By combining this with a local high-resolution observation, hierarchical structural visualization from the entire structure to the cellular level could be demonstrated.
