Objectives:
To compare the cellular composition of leukocyte-rich platelet-rich plasma (LR-PRP) and leukocyte-poor platelet-rich plasma (LP-PRP) prepared using PrecurCell® PRP and PrecurCell®-LP PRP kits, with particular emphasis on platelet enrichment, leukocyte content, and residual red blood cells.
Material And Methods:
Whole blood samples from healthy donors were processed using the two PRP preparation systems. Platelet concentration and red blood cell content were quantified using a hematology analyzer, and leukocyte content was assessed to characterize the resulting LR-PRP and LP-PRP preparations. Platelet enrichment was determined relative to baseline whole blood values.
Results:
The preparations achieved platelet concentrations up to six times the baseline whole blood values. Differences in leukocyte content distinguished the LR-PRP and LP-PRP preparations. No residual red blood cells were detected in the analyzed PRP samples.
Conclusion:
The evaluated systems produced platelet-enriched preparations with distinct leukocyte profiles and no detectable residual red blood cells. These findings characterize the cellular differences between LR-PRP and LP-PRP and may inform further investigation of their application-specific biological effects. Functional and clinical studies are required to establish their therapeutic relevance.
