Abstract:
Smartphones equipped with high-resolution cameras and motion sensors have emerged as promising tools for vestibular assessment. This review summarizes current evidence on mobile phone-based applications for eye tracking, nystagmus detection, video head impulse testing, and subjective visual vertical measurement. Smartphone-based systems demonstrate high correlation with video-oculography and show potential for screening in clinical, home, and telemedicine settings. While further validation and standardization are needed, these accessible, cost-effective tools may reduce diagnostic delays for patients with vestibular disorders.
