Abstract:
Herein, we report that the widely used one-pot in situ encapsulation of enzymes in ZIF-8 can inhibit enzyme activity due to precursor-induced toxicity. However, post-synthetic infiltration of the enzyme into hierarchical ZIF-8 prevents this deactivation, yielding superior enzyme stability and activity retention for efficient biocatalytic applications.
