Abstract:
Infectious syndromes represent a monumental challenge in the management of immunocompromised patients, directly driving high rates of morbidity and critical mortality. This clinical cohort comprised oncological populations undergoing aggressive cytoreductive chemotherapy, end-stage renal disease patients dependent on specialized long-term dialysis access networks, and individuals undergoing treatment with advanced antiretroviral regimens. Because these individuals suffer from blunted or suppressed cellular immune mechanisms, standard structural imaging methodologies (such as standard digital radiography and cross-sectional computed tomography) exhibit prolonged diagnostic latency, frequently remaining negative or ambiguous during the crucial early windows of active pathogen replication.

Fundamental Principles of PET
Positron Emission Tomography
One of the main requirements of a PET scan is a positron-emitting radioisotope, which is produced in a cyclotron and then attached to a substance used by the part of the body being...

Pulmonary Angiogram
A Pulmonary Angiogram is an invasive procedure involving injecting a contrast medium through a catheter threaded into the pulmonary artery or the right side of the heart to visualize the pulmonary vasculature. Computed Tomography (CT) scans have mainly replaced this...
