Abstract:
The qCR8 locus contains two linked nitrate reductase genes, CR8.1 and CR8.2. Genetic and biochemical evidence shows that their additive activity promotes nitrate uptake and transport, grain yield and nitrogen use efficiency, and that alleles from the cultivar 9311 are favorable for rice breeding.
