Abstract:
The evolution of three-dimensional virtual surgical planning has driven significant advances in the predictability and precision of orthognathic surgery. However, traditional workflows still rely on time-consuming manual steps, particularly in segmentation, identification of cephalometric landmarks, and anatomical reconstruction. The OrtogOnBlender XP add-on, released in 2025, introduces artificial intelligence-assisted tools within the Blender environment, an open-source software platform, aimed at optimizing these processes. This study aims to present the conceptual framework, workflow, and clinical applicability of OrtogOnBlender XP, highlighting its potential to improve efficiency, reproducibility, and accessibility in orthognathic surgical planning. The system integrates automated segmentation, cephalometric landmark identification, and anatomical reconstruction, reducing operator dependency and execution time. Preliminary observations suggest that AI-assisted workflows may enhance operational efficiency while maintaining clinical reliability. OrtogOnBlender XP represents a promising step toward the democratization of advanced surgical planning technologies for facial surgery.
