[Interpretation of the WHO guidance for best practices for clinical trials and its implications for China]
Abstract:
Public health emergencies are occurring with increasing frequency, yet persistent shortcomings in the quality and efficiency of clinical research remain unresolved. Building a clinical trial system that is scientifically rigorous, efficient, safe, reliable, and ethically sound is a common task for all countries. In response, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued the Guidance for Best Practices for Clinical Trials to improve the efficiency of clinical research, reduce avoidable waste, and support the sustained conduct of high-quality trials. This article reviews the core content of the Guidance in the context of China's current clinical trial system, identifies priorities for its application in China, and explores China's potential role in strengthening the global clinical trial ecosystem.
