Abstract:
As a tropical fruit with high economic value, the consumption growth of Durio zibethinus L. (durian) leads to the urgent need for resource utilization of a large number of processing wastes. As a core bioactive component extracted from waste (peel and seed), Durio zibethinus L. polysaccharides (DZPs) have been proven to have a variety of high-value activities, such as anti-Alzheimer's disease, anti-bacterial activity, anti-coagulant activity, anti-cancer activity, anti-constipation activity, and immunomodulatory activities. A comprehensive review of its research status is of great significance for promoting the high-value utilization of the durian industry. In this paper, the extraction, purification, structural characteristics, colloidal properties, biological activities, structure-activity relationships and application prospects of DZPs were comprehensively reviewed by systematically analyzing the relevant literature on DZPs in the past 26 years. The limitations of current research and the prospects and challenges of future industrialization were also discussed.
